readingwk.

Welcome back to school chickadee's! I hope that you all had wonderful reading weeks, whether you were home, away or just a little bit of both, it's good to have a break.

I realize that I have been talking about this for quite a few days now, but this morning when I got up, I really saw what a good rest can do for you. Lately, I feel like have been piling everything (literally and figuratively) on. I'll admit it, I'm a workaholic, but I love to enjoy and indulge in time with friends, dancing and more. However, when the load of school and work got heavier and heavier, and more jobs kept piling up - oddly, so did my makeup.

I'll pause for your laughter.

There came a point when I felt like I was putting a face on. My eyes were so dark underneath, my skin shallow and dull, my lips dry. I kept layering my makeup on more and more, and just didn't look like myself. Now, I have hardly nothing on - just some touch-ups, but not the mask I was donning before. Believe me, I'm also a beauty junkie and love my makeup as much as the next girl, but to see how the vacation had totally toned down my skin, tired eyes and more was such a gift.

So moral of the story? Take a real break. Reading week made me realize that I could live without my cell phone, Twitter and Facebook for more than a day. Not a big deal. I was still able to get my news, didn't feel deprived, and now getting to check everything is just a treat. I'm proposing taking a day on the weekend that I will completely attempt (and hopefully not have too much homework to bombard me down with) to take off. Not much work, cell phone off or on silent, little internet use. We'll see how this goes.

Just a thought.

B&W16.

I love the Academy Awards so much. I have such fond memories watching it with my mother while we were making dinner, analyzing each dress. Now, things are a little different, but just a special to share celebrating excellence in film - especially recognizing all those who are behind the scenes.

bronzage.

I know I said that I wouldn't blog over reading week, but I have a little moment of downtime during my real downtime and found an internet connection. I'm feeling super refreshed, am tanning up a little bit more each day. Lovely.

burned.

¡Hola de Phoenix!

Thought I would send in a wee post while I have a minute of downtime (and stealing a neighbour's internet connection, shhh...) but I have not thought about school, hung out, eaten so much chocolate and generally just chilled in so long that this feels foreign. Luckily, I've not thought about school, work or other writing hardly at all, so this is a great mental vacation.

However, I have seen so many things and taken a plethora of pictures for the blogette! Be sure to check back next week for full updates on Arizona, some fun fashion posts and more!

PS I missed shopping in the US so much.
PPS Barefoot California wine (one of my favourites) is only $4 in the grocery store. Sigh.
PPPS I have a burn. Mon Dieu.

Enjoy the rest of your reading week (or just week!) and I'll be back full-time soon! For now, I'll have another margarita, put on my floppy hat and hang in the sunshine some more.

phoenix.

Ahhh my last midterm is written, I have a pedicure and no worries for the next week. I'm looking so forward to this break and hoping to get lots of pleasurable, non-school related reading done (and hopefully a little bit of a tan). I'm off to Phoenix, Arizona and will not have access to the Internet or anything for a week, so no Sunrise Junction updates!

So before I head off for a couple of days, I have some treats for you all to lighten up your week. Remember to put your feet up, hang out and have a special coffee on your next Starbucks run. Why not? You only live once.

To keep you occupied while I'm away...

Kate Spade's blog - the colours, purses, behind the scenes at fashion week, an instant pick-me-up.

My current Twitter obsession, White Girl Problem.

A really fun makeup tutorial (potential Halloween idea?)

Something yummy and easy to make when it's cold outside.

Head to my favourite yoga studio in Toronto, you'll feel like family.

Get a 10 minute manicure.

Listen to something totally new to your mood.

I'll see you all on February 27th (however, I may sneak a post in here or there over the break and during my holiday...) Have a lovely spring break and let me know what you get up to!

fallrtw2011.

It's the most wonderful time of the year! New York Fashion Week as taken over the Internet and life, streaming shows across the world - how wicked is that to make high fashion accessible to the masses? Here's my favourite looks of fall 2011 RTW (ready-to-wear) that I've scanned through during my busy week of midterms, appointments and running in heels!

Marc by Marc Jacobs
I've been obsessed with the shorts suit, planning to make it my spring uniform. I've also been dressing a lot in 70's-esque clothes lately, hence my admiration for these glasses, wide-legged pants and chiffon dresses. Add a fringe bag, and there's my look for now and the fall.

Rodarte. The craftsmanship is immpecable. Laura and Kate Mulleavy must have some magic in their fingers and their eyes for detail are unparalelled.

Betsey Johnson
Leather, lace and leopard with large flowers. Is is possible to combine everything I love into one fashion show? Just divine, merci to my favourite designer.

This is making me more excited for Toronto LG Fashion Week coming up in March! I'm so impressed by Canadian designers year after year who are starting to make their mark worldwide, and am hoping to sit in the audience (and not work backstage) this year!
