top5.

It's almost the end of the month, but the beginning of the Olympics!

I hope you have been watching and enjoying some of the incredible success Team Canada has had so far. I'm definitely looking forward to watching the Women's Gymnastics team compete tomorrow in the final.

For now, here's this month's Top 5...

The Great Gatsby.

I read the book years ago, but I'm rereading and reliving the magic yet again.
Plus, with the movie coming out this December, I'm more than excited to see how Baz Luhrmann tells this story.

This is one of my little secrets.
I've been following her blog for awhile, and tried a few of her cocktail recipes at parties I've hosted.
A definite bookmark for the hostess with the mostess.

Mixing prints.

I've been really embracing this as of late. Love this combo.

Tacos.

This looking like the latest food trend in the city. However, instead of the class beef kind of taco, we're seeing fish, veggies and sweet dessert ingredients all being used.
Nom.

Mr. Bean's appearance in the Opening Ceremony.
Enough said.

Although, it's superbly awesome to see people (and your friends) retweeting things your posting.

openingceremony.

Today was awesome. I got a taste of London, the Olympics and working with a fantastic group of people.

This is the start of something big.

Thank you to so many of you for all your support, kind words and thoughts! I'm ready to take on the next 17 days of Olympic coverage and cheer for my country along the way.

Check out this photo from inside the CTV Olympic control room. I was lucky enough to get to watch the lighting of the cauldron while I was in there!

Here's the link to the Opening Essay for the London Olympics. Not going to lie, I teared up a little when I saw it yesterday in a preview, especially when it talked about the Vancouver Games. It's a pretty special time to be a Canadian.

london2012.

I have to take a second and take this all in.

I'm so thankful, excited and pumped to be a part of a once-in-a-lifetime event. London 2012. For months, this has been on my mind.

Tomorrow, it really begins.

If you've been following CTV Olympics on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Google +, you can see that we've been busy this week. With athletes arriving in London and pictures/stories being shared instantly, our fingers have all been flying off the keyboards.

It's truly awesome to be sitting with a team of people from all walks of life (and all over the world) who are cheering, yelling and working every event, game, match and heat.

This is just the beginning. Tomorrow's Opening Ceremony will unlock a whole new kind of Olympics - the #Socolympics.

I'm in the front seat with an awesome team behind me. I can't wait to take in this 17 day ride.

Go Canada go!

summa.

It's amazing how fast time flies, especially in the summer.

I just took a peek at my "must do" list for this summer, and have realized that I have hardly gotten to any of my wish list treats at all!

However, instead to planning and making a big deal about going these certain places (even though I really want to get to the AGO) I've been relishing in the freedom of flexibility. I have been lucky enough to have the time around my work schedules open enough for me to still take in things happening in the world around me.

One night, an art opening for The Rolling Stones out of the blue, another had me sipping cocktails on the outdoor patio of a hotel and yet another had me running around on Toronto Island at the beach.

Hardly any of that was planned. But you know what? Those are some memories I won't forget about the first whole summer I stayed in Toronto.

Life is good. As always, we'll see where the wind blows me next.

Just a thought.

a-ha.

Do you ever have those "A-ha!" moments?

You've been working or thinking away at something for awhile and then suddenly, it all clicks.

For me, these moments are far between, which perhaps makes them much more powerful. There have been moments especially this summer - in a few cases, what I was hearing in one realm of my life have completely changed the course (for the better) and have helped me put two and two together about things in a completely different field.

Not sure if that all makes sense, but needless to say, I had an "A-ha" moment this weekend.

All the best into the next week!
