carry.

My first day and first class of my day twelve year is one of those that completely changed my life. I remember what I was wearing (a nipped-waist blazer with a summery dress) where I was sitting and knew absolutely no one around me.

A man came into the classroom, scribbled his name on the board. "I'm Marzio Manderioli," his voice warm and kind, "But you can call me Mr. M."

Mr. M then proceeded to have us all interview a few people sitting around us. I remember most of them were in grades eleven and ten, and were either feisty or couldn't carry on a conversation.

What had I gotten myself into?

We were now supposed to all work together and create the school newspaper and keep track of the school news. We had to be dedicated, but not insane. We had to be aware, but also flies on the wall.

What had I gotten myself into?

Little did I know that week to come I would meet a few really important friends that I still have in my life (who are from all age demographics - friendship has no number), worked and created relationships with much more tech-savvy people that I to create Photoshop magazine covers we had never done before and changed what I wanted to do with my life.

Before it had all been about pursuing dance or history...but I applied to a journalism program because I couldn't let go that there is a world that could be as much fun, and challenge me as much as that hour and half class every other day did in high school.

Looking back on the past four years, I had no thought that I would do any of these things in 2008. It's good to slow down, look back, and carry on forward.

Just a thought.

Have a fantastic weekend! I'm looking forward to spending and entire day off - what a treat!

Notice anything a little different about the blogette?

Big, crazy but very, very fun day at work. Got to file information to Ottawa and work on the national budget in Canada (especially with us now losing the penny - more to come!)

I also have some fun news of me going from behind the camera producing segments to potentially in front of it for a segment next week. Stay tuned here and to my Twitter for the latest updates.

PS my new banner is compliments of my friend Hayley Sherman, a material arts and design student studying at OCAD in Toronto.

Have a great rest of the week!

Seriously, is there anything better than this?

This video is making me lust for summer, jean shorts and live music in parks. We're almost there, I can feel it.

We're halfway done the week - I'm definitely looking forward to the weekend and my first day off in three weeks. What a treat!

All the best for the rest of the week...I have some new treats coming up soon here on the blogette!

spread.

While getting my paws and claws done this past weekend, I had a chance to leaf through the latest issue of Vogue with one of my favourite fashion and artistic icons, Jennifer Lopez, on the cover.

Giggle as you may, but I really respect her talents and not bowing into the "stick thin" body persona of Hollywood. In her 40's she looks amazing!

It's a pity they didn't choose to showcase her beauty in more than a headshot and a full body portrait.

However, I was completely captured by this epic spread of supermodel Kate Moss - Lopez's complete opposite. However, solely clothes-speaking, I'm loving all the pastel colours, gaudy gold jewelry and sky high heels.

I could see any of these framed as an iconic fashion photograph in my apartment one day.

Here's the whole spread:

My Saturday night soundtrack consists of my current music obsession, Steed Lord, an experimental art project group/band from Iceland.

The trio, KALI, MEGA and DEMO incorporate dance, music, photography, ornate costumes and some pretty sick choreography into their music videos.

One of my favourite choreographers (and idol) Sonya Tayeh has created the dance pieces in Steed Lord's videos, and I love seeing dancers I knew growing up in California dancing under her direction in them!

Check out one of my pick songs - a bit vocal, a bit electronic, a little dubstep and totally ethereal.

Intrigued?

I have a sneaky feeling they'll be in contact/talks/collaboration or the like with Lady Gaga soon...closer to home, you'll be hearing more of their music in my classes and choreography for the next bit.

Learn more about Steed Lord here.

It's so strange how life works:

You want something and you wait and wait and feel like it´s taking forever to come.

Then it happens,

and it's over and all you want to do is curl back up in that moment before things changed.

teenage.

One of the perks of my current job is getting to meet and interact with a lot of interesting and amazing people.

Some are trying to save the world, and others are known over the world. Each day is different, and I find that I'm constantly inspired by the stories around me.

This morning, I unexpectedly met actress Melissa Joan Hart, famous for her roles on Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

She was clad in normal, comfortable clothes, coffee in hand and very cheerful. She sat down in the makeup chair, turned to me and asked, "So what do you think about the whole situation in Syria?"

I was blown away with how down to earth she was, and we have a great conversation about world issues, politics and the US before she was whisked away to her interview. It's crazy to meet someone you grew up watching and idolizing, and I really got the impression that she's just as cool in real life as she is on television.

Now for those magic powers...if only those were real.

I also must wish my friend Emma a very, very happy birthday on this stunning Toronto day. Here's to many more years of laughs, YPF, dance and wine.
