whoa.

Every year, there is always the same question: "What will be the soundtrack of the summer?" There are going to be the songs that we can't go anywhere without hearing at least once a day (even though I don't like it, I think that "California Gurls" by Katy Perry will be 2010's song), but what about a soundtrack. What will be that album you can always put on whether you're reading outside, working, or just hanging out with your girlfriends?

This is cliché, but you got to look to the past before moving forward. I'm also studying history, so perhaps that's why I'm in this mindset.

Nelly Furtado's first album, "Whoa Nelly" came out in 2000.
1. I can't believe that it's been 10 years!
2. It's good, start to finish.

Seriously, I've listened to it about four times all the way through this week alone (and it's only Tuesday). It's good background music when you're doing work, or just making dinner and want some ambiance. When friends are over, Furtado's voice does pitch so high that your conversation is interrupted. The beats and melodies are light and catchy, and her voice is so beautiful. Plus, it helps that she's Canadian and from BC, my home province.

"Turn Off the Light" and "Hey Man!" are my current favourite tracks.

So my advice for summer listening? Look back through your older albums on your iPod and see what's there. You might be pleasantly surprised by what you find.
