top5.

My parents always used to ask me, "do you want to live to work, or work to live?"

I'm taking the former stance, and say I'm working for the weekend.
I'm totally soaking up every moment of this one. I love being able to skip out of my downtown apartment and run over for a cup of coffee with no commute.

So with a little more time in my afternoon I have the time to present I have my top five picks for this month.

The 10 Spot.
Even if you never have enough time to get ready and look perfect each morning,
you can still look clean and polished when you have a fresh manicure.
With my student budget, I can't afford one every month, but the next time I get my paws done it will be at The 10 Spot, a fabulous salon on Queen West.

Coloured skinny jeans.
I was out last night with a couple of girls, and two of us were wearing coloured jeans.
There's something very spring-y and fun about them, especially because you don't usually expect a pop of colour via your pants!
Check out Gap and Joe Fresh for good cuts (and good prices)

Nina Simone.
My playlists have been super heavy with Nina Simone lately.
Here's my favourite track, which sounds still sounds contemporary with its electric beat.

Wooden boards.
I love wooden boards to both prepare food on and also to serve appies on.
Anything that serves double duty is good in my books.

Toronto Batman.
Enough said.
Please marry me.

Know about someplace/something interesting in your area?
Leave a note below or Tweet/Facebook me, and I'll go check it out.
You never know, you or it could be featured in next month's Top 5!

punchy.

It certainly doesn't feel like fall weather yet here in Toronto, but that doesn't mean that we can't experiment with some autumn favourites before the mercury drops officially.

Here's what I'm loving this month:
Joe Fresh nail polish in Tin. This is actually the best deal on a beauty product - three polishes for $10 or $4 each. This silver shade is fun for day and adds a touch of the unexpected to any outfit (and a bit of shine).

Canadian songstress Feist's new album, Metals. My favourite track is "Graveyard" for it's interesting lyrics and catchy beat.

If you're looking for a treat in Toronto, Nadege is the sweetest little French bakery on Queen West. I'm a huge fan of their salted caramel macaroons (and of this exquisite video!)

Photo gallery walls at home. I'm working on one in my room made out of vintage magazine covers and art reviews from the newspaper.

My friend Hayley gets all the credit for this one - my favourite addition to my blog reel is Spoon Fork Bacon.com. I'm in love with all the recipes, the layout and cockatils! (Pictured: the spicy blood orange champagne punch)

Enjoy and Happy Canadian Thanksgiving.

feathers.

Oh sunshine, Sundays and summer, j'adore toi. I know that Toronto has been roasting for the past week, but B.C. has been chilly and rainy - not so fun.

However, this weekend the heat arrived in full force, right in time for some tanning and good hangouts with your girlfriends.

Here's what I'm loving this month:
Reading Lyrics 2 Live By , it's spot on for so many true things, and reminding me of songs and musicians I've forgotten.

Sipping on Granville Island's False Creek Raspberry Ale. The absolute best beer for the season - light but still tasty.

Check out the site PS I Made This for unique and interesting homemade fashions. I'm loving these personalized feather earrings & other jewelry ideas this season.

Feeling under the weather? Head to Oranj Dance and Fitness in Kelowna and take any class. You'll feel a hundred times better after a good yoga class, peppermint oil neck massage and smoothie. The staff also bring in their pets! Check out the tour by owner Shelia Chutskoff above.

Cover every surface with fresh, colourful flowers in mason jars. So simple, but gorgeous. It's the little details that count.

Enjoy the rest of the day - I'm off to walk my puppies around downtown Kelowna and look for the Ogopogo. Cheers!
