selfworth.

"It's okay to change your yest to a no.

Yes's aren't permanent.

They're something we choose again and again, each and every day.

Something we have the right to recall and reconsider as soon as saying "yes" no longer feels conducive to our wellbeing and happiness.

It doesn't matter whether you said yes to a job, a date, a relationship, sex, a favour to a friend, a social endeavor or a vow of silence - you don't ever have to commit to something that forcesyou to compromise who you are and what feels right.

Especially, if it's something you agreed to under pressure, intimidation or force.

Changing your yes to a no might make people angry.

It might hurt their feelings, cause them to see you as a flake, and result in lost connections.

But, if saying "no"
means staying true to yourself, honouring your feelings and making self-care a priority, it's worth it.

You are worth it.

Don't let anyone else convince you otherwise."

top5.

Well, it's officially the first weekend of 2014 and I'm thankful for the time off after all the festivities this week! I hope you had a lovely NYE and a little too much fun ringing in 2014.

Without further ado, one of my favourite posts to write is a Top 5 - so why not kick off the year with one? Here's what I'm into at the moment:

Leaf TV.
I'm slightly obsessed with Leaf TV's YouTube channel. Yes, their other social media feeds are great, but there's something really engaging about their how-to videos.
Give yourself some time to watch them - even though many are less than a minute long, you'll want to go through them all. You've been warned.

Colony Bar
I love so many restaurants in my neighbourhood, Kitsliano, but it's hard to beat two for one brunch and Tapped Out Tuesdays at Colony Bar. Whenever I have friends visiting, it's my first stop with for a welcome sip and bite.

The best Tumblr I've seen in awhile.

Lenny Kravitz.
All I can listen to at the moment. On repeat: "Again"

A good mantra.
That's all.

lessons.

I'm continually inspired by other bloggers and writers...here's one post I saw on That Kind of Woman which caught my eye:

10 Lessons for my Daughter:

1. Do not fear your body for the things it lacks.
2. Treat yourself the way you would treat someone you love.
3. "No" means no. Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise.
4. Read. It will help you; everywhere.
5. Tell them you like them, it'll kill you if you don't.
6. Smile.
7. Your period is natural, don't apologize.
8. Look up things you don't understand.
9. Remember to give the amount you know you will be getting back.
10. Clothes aren't an obligation, but bare your flesh for those who love your bones.

nyd.

"I have no way of knowing how people really feel,
but the vast majority of those I meet couldn't be nicer.

Every once in awhile, someone barks at me.

My New Year's Resolution is not to bark back."

- Tucker Carlson

Welcome 2014, I can't wait to see what you bring.
