It's been a great winter break at home and I'm back to the grind of school, dance and journalism on Monday. Looking very forward to my last semester of school and my practicum placement at the end of the term.

Thank you to my dancers, friends and family for making this break so enjoyable and full of opportunities and laughs. I love and cherish each and every one of you and am wishing you all the best for the new year!

Today is the day!

After many a month of handling the social media, editing and handling a few articles and then contacting models, grabbing clothes and styling the photo essay in only a few days...the 2012 issue of McClung's Magazine is finally here!

Here's a sneak preview of our photo essay, a satirical look at 1950's housewives, and the rules of "The Good Wife".



This would not have been able to have been possible without the help of our photographer Katie Engqvist, editors Niki Singh and Sam Anderson, and of course the time, effort and clothes of all the models!

It was just a treat to work with so many inspiring people to put this issue together, and there is an abundance of fantastic articles by some very talented writers.

Hope you have a great weekend off from the first official workweek of the year - I'm looking forward to starting work in the Ryerson newsroom next week and finishing my last semester of university. How time flies!

STYLE STAR: ANNE HATHAWAY

I can remember way back in the day going to the movie theatre to see The Princess Diaries, and falling in love with the style of Anne Hathaway.

Many years (and movies later) she is still one of my favourite actresses, beauty and fashion inspirations - whether she is wearing a gown that exudes Old Hollywood glamour, or her polished everyday looks that are easygoing and chic.

As a self-professed glitter girl, I adore when Anne incorporates a bit of glimmer into her outfits - who doesn't want to sparkle every day?

Here are a few of my favourite looks, can't wait to see her play one of my favourite characters, Catwoman (pictured in all black walking below) in the new Batman movie.

As I approach the next chapter of both my dance and journalism careers, I'm continually working on demo reels for both my choreography and television work.

It's difficult to find the balance between the creative and informative, but after stumbling upon this little video, I'm instantly inspired and know if can be done.

I'm thinking that this may be my next project - since working with some beautiful dancers in December (and heading back to the studio today) I am dying to keep creating and pushing the limit as to what we usually see in competition and commercial dance.

Choreography in this Jason Gorman, music by The Irrepressibles. I love the concept of one fantastic body of work opposed to chopped versions of multiple choreography sections.

There are pros and cons to both, but this video is just exquisite.

Happy New Year!

There's something that I really like about fresh starts. All our slates are (almost) wiped clean, and the world appears to be your oyster yet again.

I don't have a proper resolution list, but I do have some things that I want to do (see The List tab) in the next few months. I'm hoping to fulfill them all before the end of school in April.

However, I am on a kick that the fashion-conscious may enjoy. My current goal is to shop for good quality clothes for the perfect working girl wardrobe, invest in statement and classic pieces, and not wear black as much.

For starters, I have ordered an exquisite bag/clutch and a simple skull bracelet from Asos . After fighting with myself whether or not to buy a Alexander McQueen knockoff clutch before Christmas, I've been lusting over finding clutch that adds some "za za zoo" to an outfit.

Here are my other picks of trends and pieces I'm lusting over for January:

Ladylike shoes, particularly in sapphire blue.

These are from Kate Spade (I die). I believe Aldo Shoes also has an affordable pair.

OPI nail polish "Rainbow Connection" from their Muppets line.

I never, ever thought I would anything related to those characters, but at my pedicure appointment today, I knew I wasn't leaving the salon without it on my nails.

Exquisite stud earrings.

Flapper-inspired dresses.

I think that everything inspired from the 1920's is going to make a roaring comeback, especially thanks to the style of Marion Cotillard's character in Midnight in Paris.

Think drop waists, sparkle and fringe.

My advice would be to continually check H&M and Forever21 in their party dress sections.

I'll be keeping my eye open for items like these to spruce up the wardrobe off-and-on work time - can't wait to dig through some of the vintage shops that have many, many rhinestones, but the odd diamond in the rough.
