STYLE STAR: OLIVIA MUNN 

It's official - my new favourite actress/style inspiration is the stunning Olivia Munn. 

I loved her performance this past season in The Newsroom as the fast-talking Sloan Sabbith and in New Girl. 

Off-screen, Munn appears to look, act and dress like a pretty normal girl. Her beauty routine is never too "done" (neutral makeup and a great short hair cut is failproof). 

She's been on my radar a bit more style-wise, and sealed the deal this past year with her perfect colour-blocking technique. She makes this look attainmable, not clown-ish. I find two bright colours paired together can borderline on looking like a highlighter, but Munn makes it look effortless.

STYLE STAR: OLIVIA PALERMO

We all have our opinions about reality TV shows and their stars...but in the real world, I gotta admit that Olivia Palermo is one of the best dressed ladies on the scene.

I have a few friends who are involved in the Canadian fashion scene either as designers, PR or stylists, and I am constantly seeing them pull and post photos of Palmero on their social feeds.

To me, this girl has got it right - she's mixes prints, bright colours, textures and quirky jewelry for the every day. From what we see in street style shots, I would like to think Palermo thinks along the same lines as I do - dress up every day. Pink pants, why not? Big, glittery necklace? Go for it. 

This upcoming season as we look into more layering, I'll be taking a page from her book (and am currently on the hunt for a faux-fur vest).

STYLE STAR: ANNE HATHAWAY

I can remember way back in the day going to the movie theatre to see The Princess Diaries, and falling in love with the style of Anne Hathaway.

Many years (and movies later) she is still one of my favourite actresses, beauty and fashion inspirations - whether she is wearing a gown that exudes Old Hollywood glamour, or her polished everyday looks that are easygoing and chic.

As a self-professed glitter girl, I adore when Anne incorporates a bit of glimmer into her outfits - who doesn't want to sparkle every day?

Here are a few of my favourite looks, can't wait to see her play one of my favourite characters, Catwoman (pictured in all black walking below) in the new Batman movie.

STYLE STAR: CAT DEELEY

Good morning and happy Sunday! I hope that you all had a fabulous weekend and enjoyed some sunshine, time with your friends and family, and took a moment to relax.

With the return of summer, we also have some of my favourite forms of entertainment reappear. Outdoor music, campfires and wake boarding to name a few, but when the days wind down, So You Think You Can Danceis on! (PS you best be voting for my friends Ashley Rich and Ryan Ramirez - I have danced and performed personally with them and they are lovely, lovely girls!)

Every week, I find that I am constantly inspired by host Cat Deeley's gorgeous outfits. She's not afraid to take a leap with her personal style - even with most of the world watching her. Her "Devil-may-care" attitude is awesome, and it helps that she's gorgeous and can pull off so much.

STYLE STAR: GWEN STEFANI

There are so many fashionable women (and men!) out there today that it's very easy to be washed up in the epitome of good style. However, I've been feeling like what society and youth consider "fashionable" isn't exactly put-together or flattering for a lot of body and career-types. Not to say that you can't wear some of the really quirky clothes (contrary, I encourage it) but again, I feel that in the effort to be different, people have started to adopt identical "It Girl" looks.

That's where I look to an icon who does it right, every single time.

I've loved No Doubt forever. Growing up, Gwen Stefani emphasized girl power to the max as the lead singer of an all-male band. She wore studs but was still feminine. She always had red lips and perfect eyes. She could really sing. She looked tough, but when she spoke, was as sweet as pie.

With all the celebrity collaborations today, Gwen stands out as a true fashion icon with her clothing line L.A.M.B., which has been sticking punches since its debut in 2003. Every collection is fantastic, staying true to the flirty, rocker sense of style Gwen encapsilates, but still with a nod to being completely wearable.

Although she goes through phases and wears things that may be a little to crazy for the average girl to pull off - fushia hair, Alice in Wonderland dresses...I think we can all stand to take a note from Gwen's book of style. She's herself, whether that means wearing a bikini over a fishnet top, (which I may or may not have tried to interpret at a tween) or a leopard dress.

Oh, and she started wearing Louboutins before everyone went all crazy for them. Oh snap.

So if I was given the choice to raid a celebrity's closet, I would definitely want to take a troll through Gwen's first!

STYLE STAR: TORONTO STREETS

Someone wise once said,“Everyday is a fashion show and the world is your runway,” which is appropriate with our culture’s obsession with street style.

Therefore, on a chilly weekend, I decided to go hunting for some stylist people. Armed with my camera and an extra-hot coffee, I thought I would find my prey all over Toronto.
En route to Liberty Village, I found my first catch: blonde woman in her early 30’s trotting a fringe satchel and oversized glasses about to cross John Street. As I ran over to take her photo, she flipped open her phone to accept a call. Disheartened, I grabbed a quick “creeper” shot of her – but with a turn of her heel, I saw the flash of a red sole of her leopard-print boots.

Inspiration, thanks for calling.

Any fashion girl knows a Christian Louboutin when she sees one, and I’m certain this woman was wearing the five-inch, “Big Lips Booty” designer shoe. While hipsters tramped along in combat boots, this woman looked effortless in her heels.

My coffee cold, and my camera (sadly) dying, I headed south toward Richmond Street and Spadina Avenue.

On cue, a woman in her early 50’walked by me wearing a leopard-print coat.

She got away from me too fast to catch her, but I was lucky, having my camera phone out and catching a quick shot. Her coat was a light, champagne-coloured leopard with a smaller print. Between her and Louboutin woman, neither of their leopard prints screamed “look at me”, but were a casual wink at a neutral pattern.

A day later, I cornered Emma Liut, third-year marketing student at Ryerson University in Toronto, at the Ted Rogers School of Management.

Clad in the Canadian tuxedo (light denim button-up and jeans with riding boots) a touch of leopard in a bag added a subtle pop to her outfit. Even better? Each piece she was wearing was under $100.

Surveying my captures, the link of leopard between each of these ladies made me purr. Perhaps next time, steer away from the black and try out the print – it is subtle, fun and good for the fashion hunters.
