Holy smokes, where did March come from? 

This month is already filling up with some very cool opportunities, dance performances and projects. Maybe it truly is the luck of the Irish. 

I have had a very fun star week chatting still filled with Oscar buzz, - talking fashion with Jeanne Becker, all about the movies with critic Richard Crouse, and accessories (like Jennifer Lawrence's back -lace) with Shay Lowe.

 It's one of my favourite times of the year, and I'm thankful to have had access to some amazing voices who share my enthusiasm about everything to do with the awards. 

Wishing you a lovely and relaxing weekend - I'm prepping for a couple gigs and heading out of town next week, so things will be a little sparse on the blogette. More coming soon!

'Tis the eve of one of my favourite times of the year, awards season. 

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will kick it off hosting tonight's Golden Globe festivities (and HBO's Girls is also premiring - oh the choices!) 

We're all busy, but in I was speaking to film critic Richard Crouse last week about his pick films to expect to win during award season, and he cited a few movies like Lincoln and Les Mis as must-sees. 

I find keeping up with the television world difficult as I don't have cable (or many free evenings to watch) but movies are always doable. 

My plan is to see as many of the Oscar-nominated "Best Picture" films before the Academy Awards in February and hopefully review/blog about them. Needless to say, I'll be taking full advantage of cheap Tuesday at the theatre. Stay tuned!

On the eve of the Academy Awards, I'm very excited to start my yearly ritual and wait anxiously to see who's wearing what.

I won't lie, the classic dresses Audrey Hepburn, Cher and other icons have worn to the Oscar ceremony will always be some of the most memorable and beautiful dresses we will remember. However, I don't think we give enough credit to some of our modern actresses (and I'm talking the ladies who pull out the big chops for in both their role choices, and wardrobes).

Below I've collected my favourite looks from over the past few years (and a little before then as well...just to keep good measure). Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard and Hilary Swank will always be best dressed in my books.










PS note about Michelle Williams - I saw My Week With Marilyn the other day and absolutely died. It's fabulous, real and Williams made me believe I was watching the bombshell herself in 2012. I hope she wins best actress!

One summer when I was a kid, my dad made my brothers and I do research reports to "keep our brains active" during those long July days.

I can remember being so upset. Who wants to do work during the summer?

Dad had a catch though - we could chose to do this report on whatever we wanted (this is something I would then hear my first year of university...I'm thinking this was all a prelude).

Out of everything, I chose to do a report about the Academy Awards.

I love the Academy Awards so much. I have such fond memories watching it with my mother while we were making dinner, analyzing each dress. Now, things are a little different, but just a special to share celebrating excellence in film - especially recognizing all those who are behind the scenes.
