gatekeeper.

"Well it's time to begin as the summer sets in
It's the scene
You set for new lovers
You play your part painting in a new start
But each gate will open another

June July and August said
"It's probably hard to plan ahead"
June July and August said
"It's better to bask in each others"

Gatekeeper seasons wait for your nod
Gatekeeper you held your breath
Made the summer go on and on

Well they tried to stay in from the cold and wind
Making love and making their dinner
Only to find that the love that they grew in the summer
Froze

February April said
"Don't be fooled by the summer again"
February April said
"That half of the year, well we'll never be friends"

Gatekeeper seasons wait for your nod
Gatekeeper you held your breath
Made the winter go on and on

Gatekeeper, Gatekeeper, Gatekeeper
Seasons wait for your nod" - Gatekeeper,Feist.

dreams.

Teaching ballet to young children is my dream summer job. I love the faith that so many of them have to become a dancer - they really believe in that they are wearing beautiful tutu's, necklaces, pointe shoes and more within my little studio dance area.

Sometimes I wonder where that faith can go. I think some people can lose it at times, myself included. There are so many down days when things are just not going right, and I can see the same happening to my little dancers. For example, this morning one of the girls had a beaded necklace that snapped and spilled all over the floor. I thought that for sure that her whole day would be ruined (I felt bad that it broke!) and she would have lost it. Some kids would have been crazy frantic, but after searching frantically for the pieces, the focus on the necklace remained for only a moment before falling back into the fantasy ballerina world.

I'm teaching these children how to dance, but they are really showing me how to pick up things that life seems to throw at you. Keep faith and remember those dreams. There's that mystical child that could do anything in still in each of us.

playlist.

Oh wow, time flies and it's already August! Only a few more weeks of work, sun and home cooking until I'm back in Toronto. The best way to end summer? Plenty of beach and friend hangout time, sleeping in, loving the clear skies and holding your puppies close until you have to leave.

I thought it might be fun to have an updated playlist for the last month of freedom. Easy to listen to, but interesting enough to have friends asking "Who is this?". Party/gathering approved.

"Restoration" - The Acorn
"You're So Vain" - Carly Simon
"Bloodbuzz Ohio" - The National
"Mushaboom" - Feist
"Dancing on My Own" - Robyn
"Howl" - Florence and the Machine
"Rockstar 101" - Rihanna ft. Slash
"Children of the Revolution" - Bono, Gavin Friday & Maurice Seezer
"Diamond Dogs" - Beck
"Front Row" - Metric
"Papa Don't Preach" - Madonna
"Soak Up the Sun" - Cheryl Crow

Mix 'em up, play them alone or see what happens. I'm loving all of these like crazy right now.

Happy August Long Weekend!
